READING, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency announced millions in criminal justice and crime prevention grant funding to be awarded to six entities in Berks County.
The recipients and funding, which included a total of $2,263,680 in awarded funds, were announced Wednesday.
Connections Work will receive $135,773 for reentry coalition coordination as part of an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
A federal STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant will provide SAFE Berks $125,000 to support the Berks County STOP team.
The following funds were awarded as part of the Federal Victims of Crime Fund Program:
Berks County Commissioners will receive $131,862 to enhance services for Berks County crime victims.
CASA of Berks County is slated to get $45,183 to support the continuation of child victim advocacy services.
Community Justice Project was granted $42,928 in funds for immigration legal services for victims.
SAFE Berks received $1,136,592 to support victims of crime.
MidPenn Legal Services was awarded $646,342 for the Legal Intervention for Victims Empowerment program.
“Today’s awards acknowledge the tremendous services these grant recipients are delivering for the people of Berks County,” said State Sen. Judy Schwank (D-Berks.) “I’m grateful to the PCCD for making these investments that will support victims and provide them opportunities to seek the services and assistance they need,” she added.
